Realism
« on: 09 Jan 2004, 03:41:07 »
Been a while since I started a new topic.

Anyway, I was just thinking of a few ways to make the OFP world a bit more realistic.

1. I suggested this earlier, but seemed to be ignored; have an animated reloading phase. Like in MOHAA, you can see him loading the bullets in the weapon. It'd be nice to see the soldier actually take out a magazine and produce a fresh one.

2. Another for reloading, but this might be able to be accomplished through a script. It'd be cool if every time a soldeir reloaded, the computer would camCreate an empty magazine near the said soldier.

There are, of course, other ways to make OFP more realistic. But I would like to see these more than not.

Cheers.

1. Maybe in OFP 2.

2. Sounds like a good idea. I'll try to implement it into the Nightstalker Mod :D .

Tut tut, throwing away empty mags, how wasteful.  ::)

Just for the avoidance of doubt, are you familiar with the Enhanced Configuration Project, available in the Ed Depot?
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

maybe a defrag magazine option should be avalible

i talkin about
when u fire half a clip and u reload
u fire half a clip and u reload
fire half a clip and u reload

you get fragmented magazines (in a sense)

maybe OFP2 will have this
or am i talkin cr@p
friendly clan battle any one?

I think number two would be possible, if there is a empty mag object.  Otherwise you would need new ones.  Another problem is the type of gun.  The script would have to detect the type of mag's the unit has.  And the mag's should disapear after a while.

Do you plan on having when ever the player drops the a mag with bullets left, have the mag keep those amount of bullets??

if there is a empty mag object.
I thought about that, some addons come with magazine clips I think.

I was thinking that you only drop the magazine when it's out of bullets. It isn't smart to waste good ammo. Maybe a detection script so that it creates a clip when every 30 shots are fired.

Also, I was planning on having it only work for M16 at the moment to work everything out. Or there could more than one.

Yes, the mags should disappear after about 10-15 minutes, otherwise it adds to lag.

OFP's graphics are far from bleeding-edge, to say the least. I always thought that what made OFP realistic was the AI, terrain, open-endedness, etc.... not tiny graphical goodies like dropping empty magazines on the ground.

Just my 2 cents  :P

Yeh, I aggree with that dude! :D

but It would be cool to have that magazine thing in the game. U would have to make a spare magazine addon for every gun in the game (hehe, mayb U could start up the unified magazine project so all addon makers make spare mags for their guns) but it would be realllllly cool
