Is There a Manuel?
« on: 24 Dec 2003, 20:22:52 »
I was wondering if I might be able to purchase an editing manuel of some sort from Codemaster's or something.  I was kinda just wondering if there was even anything like that available.   I am new to the editing part of this game and I am having a hard time even though I use your site constantly.  I have tried to download your mission editor guide off of this site, but I can't seem to get it to work yet (as you guys are still working on it).  I wish someone had some time to take up with me on this stuff.  I am very anxious to learn it and I know I can do it if I have some kind of "in depth" guide to go by.  I know I can go to all these sites and get bits and peices to help me, which I already have.  But, what I want to do is learn to write scripts and eventually make addons for the game.  So, if anyone can tell me if there is any sort of manuel available I would be very grateful.  Thanks,    Hitekrednek

Just go to the Editing Depot here:

http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?category=1_1

And grab all the tutorials you want.

Downloads are working ok.............. for me anyway.

You need to go to the Editors depot on this site (when it is fully running again).  There are so many tutorials and code snippets that you should be editing with confidence in no time :)

Thanks guys for the help.  Directly after I posted that I read some in the forum and found a few things I needed.  I have been searching this site diligently, but seem to have some problems with the downloads and tutorials working.  I got a couple of them to download, some of the beginners tutorials.  Anyway, thanks for the help.  I cannot understand why codemasters or someone that made the game didn't put more detailed ... er ... ANY instructions with the game.

By the way I have been messing with the editor for quite a while now and I'm just starting to get to learning really cool stuff.  Thanks to the people who run this site.  Thanks for the reply again.  I may be needing you in the future to help me out.

Well, the reason codmasters didnt release anything too publicly like that was that a strategy guide (which was crap) came with a pack I got which had OFP and the red hammer campaign. And in the back it had some hints bout mission making. So I spose they jus released it with that to get more people to buy it

If you have any questions, search the forums, check the Ed Depot, or just ask here on the forums.

To be fair to BIS they did include both a tutorial for the Mission Editor (Start- Codemasters - OFP - Readme - Editor tab) and an example mission (Mission1 on Everon).     Neither are very good though.       Ignore both and use the Tutorials in the Getting Started section of the Ed Depot.

The real problem is that we have over 180 tutorials now .... ::)
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play
