weapon selection vs. grouping ! kinky case :-o
« on: 17 Oct 2003, 17:30:04 »
hi again,

actually this is not a crucial problem, my mission works "almost" fine but I need to know something to master.

when I group my player to another group at mission editor - I am not using command, using just blue lines you know ( also I am not group leader );

weapons which I have listed in description.ext are not available in briefing booklet. but if my player is alone ( ungrouped ) or if he joins the group with a join waypoint. so there is no problem with weapon selection.

the only weird thing is  when I put join waypoint for my player, obviously, during briefing, this grouping is not shown, okay it is so normal, I know, but,

is there any way to select weapons and see grouping in briefing booklet either?

Hmmm ..... try this.

Leave the player ungrouped.    In his init line write

[this] join groupName

That might work.

Hi Macguba !

how are you doing? I don't see you so frequently nowadays...

yes I can try that but I don't remember how to name the actual group;

I drive at, there are 3 west people grouped with blue lines ( not with any command ) and I am the forth single soldier near them. I guess I must type something in ini field of the group leader right?

so after typing that, as you said, I can put

[this] join groupName

right? cause I figure out, there is no name of my actual group,

how can I assign group name to those three soldiers?

Hi there gokistanis, no I don't get as much time for OFPEC as I used to ... anyway

In the init field of the group leader write

grp1 = group this

and then in the init field of the player

[this] join grp1

I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

The player isn't getting to select weapons due to not being the group leader.

To get the group to show up, the player needs to be part of the group before the mission starts (ie. grouped with the blue lines).

I think it's a bit of a catch 22... unless someone can come up with some sort of cunning work around, it's one or the other I'm afraid.

You could have an ammo crate near the player on mission start, or some other way of choosing weapons...

hobaaaa

everybody is here struggling to help me ! exotic man LCD , macguba, Sui, thanx lolls !

ammo crate idea seemed to me groovy yet I can't use cause my mission is beginning with a falling down, broken down, helicopter in which my player and 3 other west soldiers ( they were grouped with blue lines ) barely eject on an unknown enemy field ( sounds frightening eh? )  ;D  8)  :P

so, to me, ammo crate may seem funny on desolate enemy field.  ::)

well, my problem is solved as far as I'm concerned. I'll click solve on monday since maybe someone may come up with a brilliant idea.

thanx again, I have learnt such great stuff !

Yea, it wouldn't seem right if you having just jumped out of a chopper into an enemy feild and you were able to select your weapons? Anyways LCD is right you can addweaponcargo/addmagazinecargo weapons and mags to the chopper... Or you can createvehicle a weaponholder (or whatever) and addweaponcargo/addmagazinecargo a weapon and mags for it and then setpos it into place, that way there will be weapons on the ground that you can take (it only works if you put one weapon and mags for it per weaponholder)

Alternatively have a small enemy patrol or camp that's easy to take out... they can have lots of weapons for you to pick up.    Or have some other guys in your group who don't survive the crash, you could take weapons from them.
