Briefing Problems
« on: 27 Aug 2003, 21:06:22 »
I've got a major problem with my briefing, and yes i have read snYpirs briefing tut, I learnt most about briefings from it. the problem is only the objectives appear and nothin else, can someone help??

P.S the parts with ** ** around i have added in to make it more clear to the reader

Code: [Select]

**NOTES**
August 18th

Dear diary,
We're being sent into Kolgujev again, that place brings back memories, that I don't want to remember. Like when we had to go and relief Lt Armstrong of defending that hilltop position, people were screaming around me, bullets tearing up the ground., the shouts of ‘Man down!'. Anyway, it seems after we left Kolgujev that the ‘Resistance' assumed control and promised to help the civilian population, after Viktor Troskas death, however it seems that Fredrick Smicer, Troskas right hand man, seized control and decided to do things his way. A lot of men agreed with his ideas, a lot didn't. A lot were killed.  And just yesterday, satellite footage showed him ordering the execution of 6 civilian men. And just 5hrs later, they ambushed a US Army patrol, they left no survivors. So they're sending us in to go and kick some ass.*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**BRIEFING**

Were sending your Special Ops team to go in and take out the rebel leader, he says he is leading a 'revolution', we think otherwise. At approx. 0600hrs you will be inserted by a BlackHawk, which will then circle the island and await your pick up call. You will be inserted here. The enemy may see the chopper so stay alert as you leave the chopper. Once, you have your feet on the ground report back to us and give a SITREP. Once we have given you the thumbs up proceed to Nav Point Alpha. From they you can proceed to the base, using the cover of the woods. The rebel base is located here. And you will have to secure it as well as take out the Colonel. Remember should you be taken prisoner, you are all mercenary soldiers trained by a South African protection agency and have been asked to carry out the his by Al-Faqoud Saleed.

Receive your detailed orders.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**OBJ 1**

Secure the base  and cleanse it of any enemies

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**OBJ 2**

Kill the target and his bodyguards(*optional*)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*ADDED SECTION, WHICH I CAN NEVER, EVER GET TO WORK**

Orders: Lt. Anthony Jenkins

Once you have landed at the LZ, make sure it is clear. We don't want you all getting slaughtered the moment you get off the chopper. Give a SITREP to base, base will be codenamed ‘PAPA_BEAR' and will keep track of you throughout the mission. Once you have spoken to Papa Bear, proceed to Nav Point Alpha. From they you can proceed to the enemy base, using the cover of the woods and hills. It is not known whether the enemy has any patrols or any patrols based in the woods. But try to avoid contact, you don't want the enemy officer alerted. As he will most likely flee to a nearby base, which will hamper your attempts to assassinate him further. Once you reach the base you are weapons free, kill everyone there. Once it is secure, report back to HQ and then kill the target. If he attempts to escape it is most likely he runs to one of two outposts, both marked on your map, designated ‘ESC 1' and ‘ESC 2'. He travels in his own UAZG, so if you see one moving it may pay to destroy it.
Good Luck

Return to the plan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**DEBRIEFING**

Mission Complete

Well done, you successfully killed the target. Now we can begin the clean up operation and restore hope to those whose lives have been shattered .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**DEBRIEFING**

Mission Failed
You failed. Now he can rule Kolgujev freely, and is most likely to strike out at civilians in retribution for the hit attempt.

There's a tool about called the 'OFP Mission Assistant'. If you can find yourself a copy of that it'd sort out your briefing for you. If you wanted to do it manually you can make your briefing in that program, then compare it to what you already did and see where you might've made a mistake.  :)

Yeah, I know of the OFP mission assistant (great little tool ;D ) but the thing is using all those briefing tools you cannot create extra parts, like Detailed Orders or an Intelligence report,etc . If someone could  tell me whats wrong or if i need to anchor anything here, I would appreciate it greatly.

SOunds like your briefing file is fucked. Start with a new fresh one, and the copy and paste the text over.  8)

I recommend that you find a mission briefing with all of the things that you want implemented in it.8)

For example, if you want more indepth briefings, you can use HTML links in the briefing that brings up another page. Here you can insert piccy's or more info;)

I use Chris's OFP script editor, it creates briefing templates etc. Very useful tool. You should be able to find it on some OFP sites.

I've inserted my own little(it's quite large for a small brief though :P ) briefing here. I suggest you use it as a template.

Here we go. Me and my squad is moving in on a town called Davle, close to a vital key-point, the bridge. The Bridge connects the west part of the island from the east. There are another way <a href = "marker:route">here</a>, but that's a major detour.<BR>
Intel reports that Davle should be lightly defended, but there should be a big counterattack since the towns to the west are more concentrated by enemy forces. Also known as: When the tanks rolls in, we're really screwed. But I don't really care. The US army aren't as big as it is bragging about. At least not many of us are posted here on these god damned islands. 10 days top, then I'm either sleeping with the fishes or in a hospital, probably for the rest of my days...

The mission starts at the <A href = "marker:beach">beach</a>. Those who we're facing, whoever they are, don't know we're comming so the landing should do just fine. We are afraid though that putting in the entire Company would give the enemy enough time to find us, therefor we can only risk one squad to enter Davle, though you may not be many, you have to element of suprise at your hand!<br>
Advance up north and take out the Shilka staioned at <a href = "marker:Davle">Davle</a>. The town should be free from heavy armor and you shouldn't encounter any heavy resistance.<br>
Once you've destroyed the Shilka, Bravo Squad will be parachuted by November 1 and will help you sieze the village. When the village is ours, radio November 2 that'll carry Squads Charlie and Delta and prepare yourself for a counterattack from the <A href = "marker:west">west</a>. Expect Armor and if you can find any kind of explosives or mines, use them!
<br>
If you are forced to retreat, fall back to the <A href = "marker:east">east</a> and try to contact our <A href = "marker:FF">main forces</A>. Last man alive across the bridge must destroy it. Remember: The bridge must at no costs fall to enemy hands! Good Luck!

We will begin the invasion of Nogova from two Directions. <A href = "marker:Davle">Davle</a> and the <A href = "marker:FF">southeast</a> area of the island, around <A href="marker:Okrouhlo">Okrouhlo</a> and <A href="marker:Sedlo">St. Sedlo</A>. Alpha and Bravo Companys invade at the <A href = "marker:FF">southeast</a> part of the island while a small part of Charlie Company head for <A href = "marker:Davle">Davle</a> and the bridge. While Charlie Company holds the bridge to prevent enemy reinforcements, Bravo and Alpha Companys should use most of our forces to advance inland towards <A href="marker:Lipany">Lipany</a>, the capital city. With this city in our hands, securing the rest of the path to Charlie Company should be easy.

The town of Davle is not heavily guarded, it's proteced by small groups of patrolling infantry and BMPs. There is also a Shilka protecting the bridge 24 hours a day.<br>Guards are patrolling the bridge 24 hours a day and can varey in numbers, from 4-12.<br>Study these pictures on Davle taken by our Special Forces Black Ops.

This section may be somewhat new to you, but you might find it usefull if you're stuck or you want to learn more about how I created this mission. A word of caution though pressing on the link "Hints and Tips" may seriously damage any value of entertainment from this mission

You may find this mission a bit easy, and fairly done without any serious scripting or anything. However, I only made this mission to get the player to understand the situation, so if you feel that the campaign is boring the first few missions, just continue playing and the "real" campaign will get more advance, harder, and hopefully, more entertainment for the player.<br>Also, if you think the pictures in the intel section look funny, it's because they have been taken during the night and have been edited with more intense and for the visual part I added grains. The millitary should be able to add the light back in 1985 shouldn't they?

WARNING: Reading this section may cause serious damage to the entertainment of this mission.
<br>
<br>
If you find this mission hard, try playing it in cadetmode or try to retry the mission. There are differences between the two modes and there are also some random values.
<br>
Do not care about the intel reports of a counterattack from the west, it's bullshit.
<br>
There are a 50 % chance that there'll be a sniper if you play at veteranmode. If he will be there he will be on your right side at the bus stop.
<br>
Stay with your squad. If an AT/LAW soldier gets shot, steal his launcher and take out the Shilka by yourself. Your squad members are quite stupid and will have problems taking out the Shilka on their own.
