on nogova, southeast of the airfield, is Hill 133. slightly south of Hill 133 is Hill 114. there's a small pass that runs between the two. now, it stands to reason that if one tank can drive through the pass, multiple tanks should be able to drive through the pass. well, you'd think so, at least.

unfortunately, i have tanks driving around Hill 133 despite the waypoints which clearly run through the pass and not around the hill. this wouldn't be so much of a problem if i didn't want to kill those tanks. you might be able to see how it's much more difficult to kill them when they're driving in the wrong direction.

i'm not new to using the mission editor, but i just can't figure out why the tanks are just suddenly deciding that they're too good for their waypoints. some help?

Does the first tank in column go through the pass like it's supposed to?

OFP calculates the routes with a very fast loop and I've noticed that sometimes when a unit goes to a tight place to get through it, the units behind him think 'omg the route is cut off, I can never fit through there'.
You can notice this effect in towns and cities best. A unit going between two houses 'blocks' the route for the rest of the units in group and they all have to go around it, even though the route would be clear in 1 sec after the first one got by it.  :P

the pass i'm talking about is wide enough for maybe five or six tanks to sit side-by-side. not only that, the tanks following the first column, which does go through properly, are set to limited speed. they're a good ways off when they turn to go around the mountain.

That's quite a puzzle then.

How about you try setting more move waypoints for them. Set one or two right on the spot where the pass is and not just somewhere over it where they're supposed to go.

If that fails you could try scripting the whole thing.

now i just have to go through and make sure that i get every tank into the script. i've got like fifty soviet tanks rolling in this mission. lots of fun.
