Chopper turn on engine, but stay landed ?

hello!

I am making a mission where I am group leader of a squad.
the mission start in a base, where a chopper (ai)  is landed

I want to make the pilot start the motor ( it is already done with  'my_heli engineon true' )

but how can I make sure that the chopper stay on its H WITHOUT moving before everybody is in ??

my main problem is the chopper take off and land again to take the remaining people and this is not realistic at all !

well... there are some ways to solve it...

use: this flyinheight 0 of the choppers init field...

but that won't stop it taking off to pick people up....

try and place a invisible H in the correct place and it stops this (but very much trial and error)

or type this in the choppers init:

this disableai "move"

and it shouldnt move at all - but remember to enableai once he needs to take off...

hope one of those suggestions work  :D

i have already think about disableai, i will try better with it....but I didn't find the enableai in the comref, do you know how to enable ai ?

enableai does not exist, (error message in the editor...

yep very simple - deres no way 2 enbale AI back - so dont use da command - da flyinhight 0 shud b enoug

no LCD, cos they still take off and land again when people board.... trust me, it made me pull my hair out...

try and fiddle with the invisible H... if u place it correctly, they will not take off and land  ;)

It is actually very easy... just make the first waypoint of the chopper a load-waypoint and type in initfield of the loadwaypoint choppername flyInHeight 0, and then place the waypoint on top of the chopper. Then make a second waypoint right on top of the load waypoint and type in initfield choppername flyInHeight 50 or whatever you would like.
Now the chopper should wait to all unit's are onboard and then take off to a height of 50 or whatever you typed in the second waypoint.

BTW. I don't about others but for me OFP will not accept a flyInHeight less than 50 in the choppers initfield, if you have the same problem you have to type the flyinheight in the waypoints initfield.

I have an idea...
i can use disableai "move" and instead of using "enableai" (because it does not exist), I could simply "replace the pilot !!!

just with a moveindriver command, I can teleport actual (disable pilot) in a vehicule somewhere else and put a new pilot in the chopper ! :)

I will try this...

I have tried a lot of thing with waypoint, flyinheight and so on, the problem is that you never fully control AI in choppers,you are never sure that it will always do want you want it to do !

clever idea.... it should work - as long as u remove the disabled pilot from the chopper (move him to a jeep or summit) - hopefully this should work...

you are correct about waypoint fiddling and plcing H's - it may work most of the time, but theres always once it won't work as you intended.
