How do I get a player view use different soldiers.
« on: 23 May 2003, 21:51:13 »
Dear all,

Can't seem to find out how to do this after searching through the forums.  Normally in a mission, one sets out a unit as the player.  Other units placed can also be set as "playable."  If the player is a soldier and there are two other unit soldiers set as "playable," how does one use these units?  Can a player switch between these units?

My understanding of "playable" deals with multiplayer... when creating a mutilplayer map you create "playable" characters to set up as the teams.

- Player (you - Not sure if used in multiplayer)
- Playable (mutiplayer)
- Non Playable (computer)

I don't think you can switch between players, I think this is right... anyone?

As far as I know "playable" just refers to which units are playable by humans in multiplayer games.    You can't switch from one unit to another during a game.   Sadly.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Depends on your view of things.  I can see another  level of gameplay that can be considered if one could switch between soldiers.
Example one, say a squad has a mission to destroy a base.  If the player gets killed, he goes onto the next player of the hit squad and so on until the mission is finished.  Example two, friendly AI can be annoying at times especially when you are trying to set them up in the right position for an ambush or scout a direction.  If you could switch between the team units, you have the OPTION of putting the units in the right position quickly (like in Ghost Recon) without them running or moving in the stupidest ways which often gets them killed.

Example one already happens in MP if you set respawn to 4 or 5
(group or side respawn)
