firing on empty objects (a prior topic revised)
« on: 26 May 2003, 20:38:42 »
I have a situation where an AI cobra is supposed to fire on an object (an invisible H-pad)

Any AI chopper, and probably any AI unit, will only fire on enemies, not empty vehicles, or anything under the empty category (which includes objects).  The DoTarget and DoFire commands do not work for this purpose.

How would you get a unit to fire on something under the empty category, or fool the AI into thinking it's an enemy?

The chopper is an AI chopper with a camera in it's gunners position for a cutscene.  The cutscene simulates the effect of the chopper firing on open ground where enemies are likely to be hiding.  This requires an invisible object or a beacon of some kind for the AI to fire upon.

:oIf there was a feature where you delete your own posts, I would have used it in the first place.  Having the administrators remove the posts is too slow and inpractical.  Only the authors that started the posting can remove it if they please.  I have more info on what would make the forums better in general anouncements under 'forum restructuring'

:-[ :-[I know the effects of two postings for one problem, it clogs the forums, and earns you a bad name. :-[ :-[

I wanted to get rid of the original, so I redirected it to the new, I put in a request in the General announcements to add this feature in, if you know a better place for requests, where is it?

You can always IM a moderator, or even just put a quick message at the bottom of one of your posts.

The moderators check every single post in these forums, at least once a day. So it will be seen and acted on if you take the time to request it ;)
