AI against MGs
« on: 22 Apr 2003, 12:25:06 »
hi there,

i noticed that when AIs detect M2 MGs they start firing on them, after killing the gunner they continue firing on the MGs trying to destroy the MG itself. This behaviour screws up my mission cause some support teams reach me after emptying their magazines against these MG.
Is there something I can do?

Simon

Name the gunner in the M2.    Name the gun.  Create a trigger.

Countdown:     3    3    3
Condition:    not alive M2_gunner1
On activation:    M2_1 setdammage 1

Three seconds after the gunner is killed the gun will explode.   Your loons will no longer shoot at it.

Wouldn't you say that's a bit unrealistic? Is there any way of perhaps making the MG change sides or something?

I am not 100% sure on this but,

Maybe use  macguba's suggestion only instead of giving the gun damage after gunner is dead making the gun captive so the IA will stop firing

the on activation box line would then be:

M2_1 setcaptive true

plus you wont really need a countdown on it then I guess

The point is, it doesn't really matter what you do.    You can blow the gun up, setpos it to a distant point, make it setcaptive or whatever - you can choose anything that suits your mission.   The important thing is that when the loon dies you can do anything you like.   Obviously the countdown is whatever looks best in the circumstances.    (Thinks:   wonder what happens if you moveInGunner a gamelogic?)

There is a script in the Ed Depot which gets another loon to get into the gun.    So if you have a good position you can snipe the enemy platoon one by one as they get into the gun  ;D
