How to activate trigger by group or unit not side
« on: 23 Apr 2003, 00:14:46 »
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I've been reading every tutorial and searching the forum for the last two hours but I couldn't find the answer. :-\

Essentially I have an eject script connected to a trigger. I only want this trigger activated by the helecopter and NOT by any other unit on the West (or East) side. Currently I have the problem of ground or other air units prematurely activating the trigger and causing my paratroops to eject into the sea.  I would like to activate the trigger on the condition that the named unit or group is in the trigger area.

I imagine that the solution involves scripting which I don't mind. Thanks in advance.

Actually, no script is necessary and the answer is very easy.

You want to group the trigger with the helicopter.  Perform the following steps:

1. Activate the Group feature (click on the Group button or press the F2 key).
2. Click on the trigger and hold the button.
3. Drag the mouse cursor over your helicopter and release the mouse button.  A line should now be drawn from the trigger to the helicopter.
4. Open the Properties for the trigger by double-clicking on the trigger.
5. Change the Activated By options to Group or Vehicle, whichever you prefer.
6. Change the Present/Not Present parameter to Present.

That's it!  Good luck!

Ahhh that is far easier than I had imagined. Didn't realise it was possible to group units with triggers :)

Thankyou very much.
