« on: 18 Apr 2003, 11:00:33 »

Make it a .3ds file.. then use anim8or

www.anim8or.com

to add the "dummy KData" needed  then you can import into O2 ;)

open your 3ds model in anim8or and look for the debug menu  there should be a place where you can check off  "Dummy 3DS Kdata"  (or something close to that anyways ;) )

then save the model... and you should be able to import ;)

To the best of my knowledge BoneCollector once a model is  in .p3d format.. that's the way it's going to stay ;)

hmm....

I looked at Anim8or again and it can import

.obj
.lwo
.3ds

I've never used milkshape.... what formats does it output?

if you can export as .obj   or .lwo  from Milkshape
then you could import that into anim8or and export as .3ds

With what you change the p3d file to 3ds ???

if you have a mlod.p3d and want to export it to 3ds.
triangulate your model and send it as a .asc file to a location on your pc.
import it with a program called "med"(model editor),this can be found
by downloading the gs5 gamestudio trial version.search on google for it.
after importing the .asc file, then export it and save frame as .3ds
then open in max\milkshape or other progs.

oke thanks for the help :)
But, at milkshapes page it says it supports autodesk 3DS format, both import and export. So I guess I can just open the model in milkshape and then do what kaliyuga said...

You could actually just use an old program used for .p3d editing called P3D2Obj which changes a p3d into about 10-15 obj files (depending on how many lod's the model has) it also keeps the mapping, then just import that into milkshape/3ds max.

Also when trying to get a milkshape 3ds into O2 you cant just go directly as milkshape doesnt output a 'proper' 3ds, it needs to go through a program like 3ds max or i think anim8or which can then be imported in o2, importing without doing this will crash your o2.
