Making vehicles go the speed of infantry?

Umm, I was wondering, is there a way to make vehicles go the same speed as infantry does in their careless mode walking? Because it looks incredibly stupid when the vehicles try to overtake and yet they don't do it (if in the same group for example). All I'm trying to do is infantry walking in front and vehicle coming at the same speed behind them. Simple straight line, that's all I'm asking...

 if you have an infantry group leader then any vehicles in his group should maintain formation with him by default.

Based on Kaliyuga's answer, there are a few variables to consider.

1) Is the "Special" field for the units set to "In Formation" for both leader and tanks? I am not sure what would happen if they are  both set to "None" or only one of them is set to "In Formation".
2) What type of formation is used for the group? Try a different one (Staggered Column, Wedge.....) to see how it affects the position of the tanks.
3) Is the group leader the highest ranking member of the group? If not, make him so. I read somewhere in a tutorial that it does make a difference.

I have a mission that I gave up on as I had the same problems. I will try to get my vehicles to follows my troops based on the above responses and let you know if I was successful.
