Slow downs
« on: 14 Apr 2003, 21:40:28 »
Hi all, apologies if this has been brought up before, I haven't seen it anywhere though.

I was happily building in wrpedit... and checking from time to time the preview screen, but once Ii'd added in a small forest the fps would drop to below 10 (down to 1 if I went too close to the forest) when I approached the forest - and now any 'high' poly area, such as a small town with enterable buildings and such.

My question is, is there a way to optimise the preview thingy so I don't have a slideshow when previewing any area of interest in my map.

My system specs are:
AMD 1000 cpu
256 RAM
TNT2 32mb video card
DirectX version 8
Windows ME

I thought, whilst not brilliant the pc would be able to handle a little forest and village, any ideas how to increas the performance?

You need a better graphix card then the one your using, like a Radeon 8500 or higher or a gforce4 ti, something like that will solve yur problem

Even a GeForce 2 wouldt greatly multiply your performance  ;D

But if ya wanna save some money go for the GeForce 3 card, they are allmost giving them away now (At least they are in Denmark anyways). And they have great performance.
