?M21 replacement?

iwas wondering if there was a planned replacement for the US sniper rifle...... i mean like the OICW OCSW are planned 'next gen infantry weapons...is there a Sniper weapon in the works somewhere?........if there is who do i have to bribe to make one? ;D

ps is anyone making a OCSW?

There are tons of Sniper rifles out there.... (I think I have em all ;D ) you just have to look for em.....    Or wait a little longer until the addon depot comes back on-line

Go find yerself a nice little PSG-1 Camo, best rifle around in MHO :toocool:

Well the modern sniper for the US is the M40.  Based on the Remington 700.

It's M40A1/A3, and its for the MC, and teh M24/M25 SWS r for the Army/Navy  ;)

That is true. There are currently no plans to develop a "new" sniper rifle for US Army/Marines as they are chuffed to bits with the current ones.

(Note the US army also use the light .50, as do the marines)

Why did we replace the M21 which was Semi-Auto, with the M24 which is not semi-automatic?

By the mid-1980s, the US Army's M21 Sniper Rifles, built on the M14 actions, were wearing out, and suitable replacement parts were scarce. The new world's political situation moved the focus of the NATO and the US Army troubles from the Europe to the Middle West. The flat, open desert terrains produced the need for the rifle with effective range ot to 1000 meters.The US Army set the specifications for bolt-action, stainless steel barrel rifle with Kevlar-graphite stock. After final shoot-off between Steyr SSG rifle and Remington model 700BDL, the latest was standartized in 1987 as a US Army's Model 24 sniper rifle.

also, you can get about 1 MOA with an M24 (especially with M118ammo (7.62x51, 173gr))  :)

Also, the M25 is an improved version of the M21, wich is used by the Navy/Army

Actually I think the Marines are working on a replacement rifle. It is designed to be adjustable so it can be changed to diff. snipers requirements. It is also easier to work on and just as acurate. But what the heck was it called i cant remember.
