Realistic explosion script
« on: 07 Oct 2002, 16:32:12 »
I have an idea to create a Realistic Explosion Script Pack but I'm lack of experience in scripting so I need a team of volunteers to help me. If you're interested and what to know more please PM me.

Stalker... this is very close to a recruiting thread, which is off topic and due to be locked.

Please use the Training Depot to recruit and not the forums.

I'm going to leave this thread open provided it's used for discussion of the topic, and not recruitment.

Good luck for your project ;)

Bringing this somewhat back in line :))

I'm assuming these scripts will consist of camcreated shells? and possibly some smoke? but I really can't see anything else that would be more "realistic" , at least not without editing the config.cpp of a weapon/shell  and thus creating a new add-on, and not really a script per se.....

Give a few more details.. what exactly did you have in mind ?

Not only smoke and shell. Do you know about "firesource.sqs" which BIS added in Resistance ? Also there is some non-smokeshell smoke so you can create "air pillow" for the choppers (there is one on ofp.de)

Haven't seen this firesource.sqs    does it make use of the drop command ?

If it's similar to the CAT effects pack fires, but without the add-on that would be cool.. and something worth looking into...

I remember someone making some "meteors" that seemed to streak across the sky in flames... perhaps that same sort of thing could be used to make a fire occur after the explosion...

Also... I think that secondary explosions would be a great touch to this script... a smaller blast slightly delayed from the first.. followed by flames...
Just an idea ;D

Yes it makes use to the drop command. Firesourse was used in one of the Resistance missions where Guba blows the town with Troska and his girl. After that we can see burning Urals.

Rubble_maker came up with a set of scripts that makes a pretty good job of this already. It would be hard work to improve on what he has achieved, although it could be made more general.

check here.

I've already done few works about explosion (blast effect, classic explosion, etc...) My old scripts are enable for F4 airplane, but soon I will release improved version. I made Napalm explosion, Cluster bomb explosion. Someday maybe I will try to make phosphor bomb explosion

Oh such an old thread pulled up
well about progress I made a cluster effect long time ago, but it didn't seem to interest anybody  :'( I think it was deleted (I don't even find the thread at OFPEC where I announced its release). There remains only this old picture :

About napalm, it should be somewhere on my HD collecting dust... (maybe already recycled :-[) Still waiting for a decent Vietnam plane to tweak its cpp and to add the script
