New guy needs help
« on: 06 Apr 2003, 04:22:17 »
hi bro's, i got 2 questions:

1] why is it every time i get my squad to jump out of a chopper i always get 2 or 3 or 4 die before they even hit the ground?  im pretty sure their chutes get cought in the choppers blades, but how do i get around that?

2] so far i can only get the soldiers start of a mission in combat mode, i want to start a mission with the squad in safe mode just walking around with their rifles on their back, how do i do this?

thanx.

ps. cool forum, wil take some time to ead all of it. :P

;) ;D 8)First off theres nothin worng w/ da chutes you need to be at atleast 50 feet in the air to make it out safely and for the safe  8) mode thingy just type

this setBehaviour "SAFE"

in the init line of the soldier or just set a waypoint up and in the behaviour field select "SAFE"
Hope this Helps!  8) ;D :D :)

dang, i increasd the altitude to 250 ASL and i am still losig a few AI's on the drop. i think its the chute cause the chute of the dead AI soldier goes all manky and black smoke comes out of it (which is very strange) anyone else get this?

;D :) ;) :D ;)No problem! What happens to your schutes is that the men are jumping out to close to each other and getting stuck into others' chutes. Sounds kinda wierd- I know- but it happens to me too! Dunno how to fix it tho. Maybe order them out at different times? Ect. F1-6-1,(wait a few seconds) F2-6-1 ect ect.

i tried ordering them out in smaller groups but that dosnt work, mind u i think i have got it now. i set the chopper speed to FULL and they all survived the jump. i tried it twise with no casulties   :D  must mean  that if u go too slow they get too bunched together like the captain wrote above.

live and learn i guess.
