« on: 05 Apr 2003, 00:18:51 »
Hi

I have made some really interesting and excitining missions, they have cutscenes etc but one thing that huants me is objectives! i don't know how to do them. I've looked oversome tutorials and tried to follow those but it never works or it gets complicated.

can anyone please help me? by just telling me of an objective program or something

thanks, PathFinder.

There have been alot of posts on this in the forum, you could try searching the forum, read more tuts, or unpbo some of the official missions or some1 elses mission. :)

There ar some tools here: http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?browsewhat=3&category=3_1

you could also look around in the editors depot more because there might be some others in different catigories

one more thing, donate to OFPEC!!! I would, but im poor :P

Objectives have three parts:-

1)  The idea.   What is your mission about?   What is the player supposed to do?     Common ideas are destroying a particular unit, clearing an area of the enemy, meeting an ally, simply going to a particular place.    However the OFP world is your oyster.    If you can imagine it, it can be an objective.    Probably.

2)  Triggers.     You need to use triggers to detect when your objective is complete.   You may also need some some scripting or waypoints too.

3)  Beaurocracy.   Briefing.htm stuff, marking the objectives completed and all that kind of thing.

Sounds like you have stage 1 nailed down, if you are making exciting missions.     If you're still having problems (this is a slightly old posts, I was going back through the forum looking for unsolved questions) tell us more specifically what's going wrong.
