New.. a few questions.
« on: 04 Apr 2003, 09:03:04 »
Forgive me, I am a n00b to this forum and the broad fan base of FP. I have owned Flashpoint and Resistance for a while now and have just always wished for more out of the game. Granted it is a remarkable game, what are things to download to improve upon an already great game?

I Haven't downloaded any patches or anything yet. I'm planning on patching both games soon and just want to know what to download to make the game interesting again.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!

There are several hundred missions in the Mission Depot for you to play, that should keep you out of mischief for a while. ;)

But in the end of the day, you can't beat making your own missions.    It's not hard to do and its fun.     Have a play in the Mission Editor in the game, and look at the tutorials in the Editors Depot - Tutorials - Getting Started - First steps.

And I haven't even mentioned the Addons Depot yet .....

In other words, explore this great site and you'll probably find something that takes your fancy.   Ever thought of designing your own island?

as for patches.... because you have resistance, that means your current version of the game is 1.75 - and so u have all the units you would have if you had patched the game from 1.00 to 1.46

now, from 1.75 onwards, there is 2 patches to get -  adds new units and  minor improvements and addition of scripting commands:

1.90

and

1.91

hope that helps

macguba - I play around in the editor alot but I don't know most of the complicated commands like how to make a squad board a chopper by themselves or multiple objectives, just no where near able to create complicated missions like the ones in the Single Player parts of the game.

Is there a place that explains where to put add-on's and stuff and how to install them? Sorry, I'm not new to modifying games, just this one.

as for the missions like in single player: I think that (nearly) no1 on this board is skilled enough to make one of those ;) but you should get pretty far by just skimming through the tutorials. Even without scrips you'll be able to make fun missions. Be sure to read the beginner tutorials (first step and such, in the editors depot). This contains all you need when starting to edit, like boarding a chopper, have a unit to have a gun on his back etc.

for installing the addons: if it is in a zip file, open the zip file and extract the .pbo files in there to ofpfolder/addons. There's mostly a readme in there too which will tell you what you need to know. Especially when you download big weapon packs, there'll be a readme which will tell you the name of the weapons and how to install them.

well, gl and

Thank you for the help, I have one other quick question.

How the heck do I fly the A-10 or the SU?  I tried with the mouse and it's very difficult, I also have a Logitech Wingman joystick. Is there a way to calibrate it for this game b/c it's even harder with the joystick.

TTT.

Any help on flying?

Moderators.

Can we have a general Game question forum? If there is one, forgive me for not seeing it.

EZ,

We are an editing site. If you ask general Gameplay questions, I'm afraid you're going to get your thread locked.

Try the Official Forums for gameplay advice ;)

Oops, sorry m8, will do.

I just did a Google search and this site caught my eye first and seemed to be professionally done and looked great so I registered and asked away. I'll leave and go there instead.
