Slow viewing in mission editor/mission map
« on: 21 Mar 2003, 22:12:09 »
I've made a General purpose Desert Map for my up coming Single/Multiplayer Mission's. However it has one fundilemental flaw :'(! When zoomed in close on the mission editor in opflash, my frame rates go down to 3fps! Same with the mission map in the game. However zoomed out the framerate increases to 100fps!

If anyone wants to see if they can find the problem, i'll email you the file.

Thanks very much,
Si

PS My pc spec aint a problem! (Althon XP2200+, 512Mb Ram, Radeon 9700)

This sounds like the kind of lag I'm getting with some of the 50km testmaps I did.

It seems that OFP has problems withmaps that have really rough terrain. OFP calculates the level lines from the heights of the map ingame and when you have a rough terrain OFP has a hard time to calculate those many level lines.

Do you have a rough terrain?
Do you get this lag in just some special places or overall on the map?
How big is your map?

Its a full size map (dont know actual distance) & its rough (1-10 height). I defiently think its the max height points that cause it. I dunno if u can get rid of them though. Any ideas?

I can have a look at it if you wish.

See if I get the same on my system.
