HALO Map-Click
« on: 04 Jan 2004, 05:22:44 »
If someone could do this it would be much appreciated.  What I need is a script that used Toadlife's wonderful HALO script.

Here's how it should work:
-The player calls a script via radio (I understand this part).
-The script asks the player to click on the map where he would like the units to drop.
-There is a delay, which you can set in the scripts, which waits until it starts the units.
-Then the units are created high above, like 2000 meters above where the player specified.
-The units float down and open their chutes at a low but safe altitude.

Again, all help is much appreciated.  Thanks  ;D

EDIT: Apparently I can't spell, not even script.  ;)

I think this would not be a bad script, but my question would be is it realistic. HALO jumps don't hppen in minutes. A lot of planning goes into them, and often soldiers are in the plane for hours before they hit the drop zone. I just don't think it is realistic to call in reinforcements by way of a HALO jump.

Sure, sounds possible. As for realism, that would be why you could select time delay.

Reinforcements???

How I understand what the guy wants is for a soldier to be on the ground. He issues the HALO order using the radio and sometime later soldiers or "reinforcements" come falling down at a spot that is select on the map. I was just making the point that HALO jumps don't work that way. Drop zones are determined before the plane leaves the ground, not while in flight. That is all I was trying to say.

Well, I'm sure they could alter it mid-way.  Is anyone interested in making this?

Send me a copy of the HALO script, and I'll see what I can do :) .
