Tutorial?
« on: 02 Mar 2003, 20:28:29 »
I may be blind and stupid, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Is there a basic tutorial on getting started as to how to make the pre-mission movies? I'm looking to re-create a scene from Forrest Gump -- the bit where the helicopters fly by, and folks are going up the road to the tune of CCR's Fortunate Son.

*shrugs* :)

Problem is, I know nothing...and I need to find a tutorial to teach myself. :)

Check out snYpers camera tutorial.

It should be in the editors depot. That will teach you the basics

And when you know the basics you download camera.sqs (also in editors depot) as that is the best and most powerful intro creator around.

Yes look in the editors depot for snYpirs tutorial it is a great tutorial that will teach you everything you need to know. Also in case you got confused camera.sqs is not a script that you download it is built into the game. Also I reccomend if youy are going to do camera scripting get Chris's OFP Script Editor. That will help you do the Description.ext for the music that you will need too. Hope that helps and you might want to look at the Helicopter Tutorial for help with getting them to land and stuff.

Here  is a list of scripting tutorials. I highly recommend my own, as it deals with camera scripting for people, who like myself, are not programmers. Gently does it, and better than snYpir's for beginniner's. ;)

Oh sure, recommend yourself...
Personally, I learnt it from the swedish PC Gamer magazine. They had a brief introduction to camera scripting, I.E the basic commands and what they did, and I took it from there. snYpir's was great actually :P
