Serious heli/spawn Script freaks needed...
« on: 10 Feb 2003, 02:59:59 »
All right.....

I want to have an MH47 fly in... slow down... descend to sea level to where the cargo area is barely full of water... then the ramp opens... and a zodiac full of dudes comes zooming out... then the ramp closes and the heli leaves...  even if it was a cutscene until the Zodiac was out of the chopper.... or some variation of this... Any Ideas?

I know its possible... but how?   ???

Ok... I found out how to cause the ramp to open and shut...

How do I get the MH47 to hover with its wheels and ramp dipped in the water... and always go to precisely the same spot.

I also need to find a way to transport the zodiac into place... but I can prolly find that one no problem...

OK

I cant script but I know the principles...

Use flyinheight to have the Nook go low, give it a simple move waypoint...

Use a script that set the pos of the Zodiac to the one of the helo, and the Azinmuth to the opposite of the helo....

Then make it zoom out with setvelocity in the opposite direction of the helo...

After the script have it soar off...

There ya go...

Now someone script this, and I wanna have it to!

You can also try the classic approach too.   Placee an Invisible H object on the spot you want the chopper to hover at then issue the command: <heloname> Land "GET OUT"    The chopper will hover just a few feet off the ground.

Now there may be a funny problem though.  If the H is placed on the floor under the water the chopper may go underwater and explode.  I have never had to have a chopper hover over the water before at only a few feet.  Works like a charm on land.  That's how I get my Medivac helo scripts doing their thing.  I'll place numerous invisible H's in the area and it will choose which one to land at and hover on.   Going to make a script in the future where it looks for green smoke to land there.

Make it a waypoint, in the on activation line write heloname flyinheight 1, it should do just that when it reach the place......

This wont make the AI think, and so it wont be stupid as it use to be...
