Making an A10 take off
« on: 19 Feb 2003, 16:58:30 »
I'm trying to place an a10 on the map, take off and follow some waypoints.  However, the plane just crashes a few seconds after the mission begins.  I noticed that it started veering to the right - although the waypoint is set straight ahead.  Does is have to be on a landing strip for it to take off?  I know this question is kind of vague but any help would be appreciated.

I think you have to use a script for that. I have tried it aswell. Did not make it work. Better to have the A10 already flying if you have AI pilot. Maybe there is a tuturial about this.. check that out.......

To get aircraft to land and take off you basically have to use the one operational landing strip that there is on each island.     The aircraft will take off if it has an flyinheight command at the next waypoint.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Oh - So if it does not have that flyinheight on the next waypoint f.ex end of runway it will start going to f.ex right and into the woods??

Cheers for that.....

There is no need for any command the plane will take off if you have given it a move wp and away from the airfield it will Take -off properly if the author of the map made the airfield properly and set correct parameters for the plane take off!(this is only considerable if you are using a user made map) and not the official ones ;)

I think something that would help us answer your question, Matt, is which runway on what map you are using to launch your A-10.

If, for example, you are using the runway on the north island of Nogovo or are trying to launch it from a road, it will not work without some serious scripting to simulate a take off.
