Pbo trouble!
« on: 19 Feb 2003, 11:34:08 »
I have a problem...
I have tried to decrypt the pbo's in the campaign folder.
You know... The 1985, res and redhammer. When it is done, i put the missions in my users\myname\mission folder to see how codemasters did when they created the campaigns.

But when i load the missions, nothing happes. There are not any units on the map..

Another problem is to get the resistance music into mp3.
I've done it with the 1985 music, but i dont know where the resistance music is placed...

Can anyone help me!?  :-\ :hmm:

Well... decrypting the campaign .pbo its a very good technic for learning how to edit.  ;)

Maybe you copied the entire "1985" folder to "user missions" folder, without removing the main directory! I mean: you must copy each mission folder, which are inside of "1985", to the user missions folder; individualy.

I hv OFP1.00 and i found no problems with it... Be sure you're using a good PBO decryptor, such as UNPBO.exe.

Any further questions?

Hey, relax ..... you are at the fount of all wisdom, knowledge, peace and understanding, namely OFPEC.

What's so frustrating is that you know that it does work ... which of course it does.     So we need to find out at what stage in the process its going wrong.

When I un-pbo'd the original campaign using Amalfi's un-pbo 1.5 (available in the Ed Depot) it un-pbo'd everything into a folder.   In that folder was a sub-folder called Missions.  And in Missions I found mission folders for all the missions, amongst other things.

Let's take that classic mission

05aAfterMontignac.Eden

If you open the folder you should find a variety of files, including mission.sqm.   Open it in a text editor like Notepad or Wordpad and you should find this

version=11.000000;
class Mission
{
   addOns[]={};
   randomSeed=3274243.000000;
   class Intel
   {
      briefingName="@STRCN_05a";
      startWeather=0.518710;
      startFog=0.256228;
      forecastWeather=1.000000;
      forecastFog=0.749875;
      day=13.000000;
      hour=5.000000;
      minute=25.000000;

etc etc

If it doesn't look like this there is no point in progressing further.    Get a different un-pbo utility and try again.

Now, as you know, you need to copy the Montignac folder into c:\ ....... \users\yourname\missions

Fire up OFP - version should be irrelevant - goto Mission Editor and Everon and there it should be.

If its not, go back through the process step by step and figure out where its going wrong.  Then tell us and we'll try to fix it.

Stay  8) man

Ah-ha!   Progress!  :)

The un-pbo is not decrypting the mission correctly.     Get a new utility.   I use Amalfi's, which you can grab from the Editors Depot - Tools.     I'm not saying its the best, but it works for me.
