Animations for weapons

I have a simple question: Are weapon-holding animations linked to the soldier or the weapon? I mean, is the way the soldier holds the weapon caused by the soldier's .cpp coding, or the weapon's coding?

They are defined for the soldier via the "CfgMovesMC".
