crouch position
« on: 14 Feb 2003, 19:01:04 »
i know how to make a guy crouch with this command:

this setbehaviour "aware"; this playmove "combattocrouch"

but i would like to know how to make a guy stay in that position because when i try that on a guy he just does the action and just stands back up.

any ideas?

INIT field of soldier goes:  this setunitpos "UP"
And then simply make a WP and slide it VERY close to him.
:o The "On Activ." field of that WP goes like:

unitName switchmove "crouch"

And set the behaviour of the WP to "combat"

If he got any handgrenades, then his INIT field should
also contain:

this removemagazines "Handgrenade"

'coz he will stand up when throwing 'em  ::)

that works well, :-\ until they get into combat, somtimes they stay in the crouch position but sometimes they just stand up when there are other guys from their team that shoots. I tryed putting a trigger with the switchmove command, and i put it in repeatedly but it has no effect.

any ideas how to fix that?

thx in advance

Hi headshot_snipe,

this issue has been discussed in depth and solved (but we are all still looking for further input tho :)).

Read all of the following two links

They contain important info you need about getting AI crouched and being able to fire over objects. Some objects have issues with AI being able to fire over them while (crouching)  and using them as cover. Workarounds have been found ;D

I will be upgrading my AI smartcover script further this week. Try version 1.1 tho if you like.
