changing outfit
« on: 11 Feb 2003, 02:13:36 »
is it possible (with all the new commands etc. )  to get the player unit to use differant sets of clothes  by lets say a action menu ???

example ..

unit inflitrates as a civ gets his intel. then (action "change clothes") turns in to a armed and lethal sniper or what unit you ever want. do his stuff (kill or steal etc.) and then change back to a civ outfit?????

 ???

Nope, still cant be done.  Your best bet is to make a mini campaign, where the player starts off in one set of clothes, then starts a new mission as a new character when you want to change clothes to a new set.

Hello,

basically it is no problem:
- create a second unit in the desired outfit far away
- set the properties (weapons, skills, group, behaviour, damage, direction, etc...) same as the orginal. (all commandos to read it out are available)
- delete the orginal
- rename and reposition the unit in the new outfit

If there is interest i think i can write a script which can do it. Do you want something like that ?

No, still no.  The player can not "change clothes" no matter how many AI stand-ins you want to use.

You asked if the player can change clothes mid mission.  No he cant.

The post by Kuro is how to get an AI to change clothes, its done with having two seperate AIs and switching them.

Depending on what you want to do, it can, or cant, be done.

The normal way around the problem is to make a two mission campaign.

Hmm ,I already know soldiers can have hidden selections (ie:medic)

So I would say yes,it is possible to do this....

Once you mark the selection,it would be a matter of changing the texture using setobjecttexture

Just that someone would have to define it,make it with the addon

How do you make someone a medic then?

And that addon could have a built in script, and some actions that changed clothes...
