Mortars with lights?
« on: 11 Feb 2003, 17:39:06 »
I've checked the ComRef and tried misc scripts, but I still cant get the light to shut off on the Mortar Launcher! I've specificly tried:
mort1 inflame false
mort1 action ["lightoff"]
and a few others...

Am I just stupid or is there some special code to get the AI to shut that supid light off?

Post here or stop by My Boards

Hi CptCox

Use a Waypoint set to stealth or assault or some such it is the attitude of the gunner of the mortar that turns on lights. An altenative would be to get the driver to dimount then mount when the enemy attacks. It depends what situation you are creating in the the story; is the mortar pit at stand too or at ease?

Ok, here's the situation:

The mortar launcher is a 'West' unit, so for the Soviets to use it, I spawn it as an empty unit and order two soldiers to get in (commander, gunner [there is no driver]).

I tried setting the guys to stealth, nothing. For all I know, the light (like the M2) is automaticaly switched on when a soldier is manning the vehicle and the time hits hour 'X'.

I could set it so that when the base alarm is triggered the guys board, but it still shouldnt have a light on it, it's just a generic mortar like you see in the 'Nam movies where you'd drop in the mortar and 'whomp'! Besides, if the alarm goes if, it means that the M2 gunners can see you and they'll keep shooting at you until you die. If you take out the M2 gunners first, then the alarm is nullified and that'd leave the Mortar sitting there in the dark (so the player cant see it) empty.

Any help would still be appreciated.

If I remember right, you canÂ't turn off the lights on M2. I think itÂ's the same thing on mortars.
