and had a drum barrle with a 75 rnd mag, it was also used to clear out house due to the drum mag it was used in assualt.
The MG42 could take the 75 round drummags to, though it wasnt designed to do it, it was easy to modify it to do so.
MG34 was the staple MG of top of tanks due to its Round barrl which the mg42 lacked.
nah... I dont think it had to much to do with a round barrel. it was mostly the feeding capabilities and straight-backward barrel withdrawel. And also, the MG42 replaced the MG34 as a infantry so the MG34 was then used as vehicle-mgs which it quite good at.
