Land an aircraft
« on: 23 Jan 2003, 00:20:58 »
Hi there, I'm new in OFP-Editing and I got a question: I've got some aircraft-addons (ie F15, F14). Any idea how to make them land on an airport, let's say at the base in north of Malden?

With the "built-in" A10 there's no problem, just put a waypoint and a land-command at the airport and the guy will land.  But the addon-crafts? No way, they're going round the base but didn't land...Any "simple" solution without advanced scripting?

Thx!

O Neil

Are you trying to land on the large runway on malden or the small one on the island?

FYI:  on the islands with airports only the North-South runways will let planes land, and those planse MUST approach from the South.  Also there can only be 1 functional airport on each island.

Make sure that the WP before the Land WP is well south of the end of the runway.  I was playing in the editor today and had a synchronised landing of 3 planes.  This was done on Everon using the A6 addon.  Looked really cool.  Wish I had taken some screen shots.  From my expierience the larger planes seem to have more trouble landing than the smaller ones.  I believe this is do to their lack of maneurverability; they "miss" their WP's or can't get lined up on the runway properly.

Something else to try is giving the planes a GETOUT WP instead of a land WP.
