Predator UAV - Recon + Hellfire - INGAME PICS :o)

well - ever since schoeler gave me this idea i decided to make a predator UAV - fliper started on one, but never saw anything of it...



now the model is nearly done but i have some questions for the model gurus out there:

1. .cpp - is it possible to make this a true recon plane and when it knows about units on the map, then every friendly unit on the map knows about those units?

2. pilot - do i have to have an empty space in the cockpit to alow a pilot? obviously the real thing doesnt have a pilot but this needs it in ofp - but i want it hidden and is it possible notto allow the player to be the predator? or place an unlocked empty one?

Hey, nice work pal

I'm not certain, but i'm pretty sure the recon bit would be more of an ingame script, than in the .cpp

i.e.

You start the mission,
Off goes the UAV,
The script kicks in, and finds all friendly units within the area or whole map, depending what you want
Then as the UAV flies about and spots targets, it "knowsabout" them
This info could then be used by the script to "inform" all the friendly units, using the "knowsabout" command

Or when the UAV finds targets, the script could note the co-ordinates, convert them into an XY location, and relay it over the radio

Just some ideas, i'm sure you'll figure it out  :thumbsup:

well - the gear bit's easy to add and so are the hellfires - just went over my poly limit - wanted to stay below 2000, its at 2300 - no biggie, doesnt take much to remove 300.

the player appearing is an o2 coding thing, thats just for looks it has nothing to do with how the model handles or whether it works or not

My RQ-1 Predator UAV system is still in work - just that it is stopped for lack of time! I have the Predator model fully ingame (with all those aditional LODs, settings,weight,... :) ) and half of its textures done! I also have the GCS truck done (Ground Control System)! And there's no need of scripts...

Also Messiah, your model is WAY TO HEAVY on polycount! Why do you need all those details when you wont be seeing it at close range ??? My model LOD1 has 280 polygons, LOD2 has only 117, and I'm thinking of making another LOD(3) with even less polygons(~60)! You should reconsider your eyecandy model and make a lower polycount one...

made a lower poly one - simply as you said, too many.

well - is there much point to mine now? i havnt even though of the truck - jeeeze - textures are done - and it will be ingame soon - but missed that truck...

hmmmm..

Hey, dont say that! Your model is realy sweet - although sweetness is not suited for OFP engine...
I love your model!! Maybe we can cooperate?

hell yeah - i would love to - theeres one thing i hate the most about addons and that is 20 diff versions - it would be great to incorporate our stuff - just makes it a whole lot easier.

i'm sure evis wont mind - hes got Nam pack stuff on his back as well.

IM me and we'll sort summit out - i just thought yors was forgotten - when i searched for reference pics tho, a pic of your model came up on google  ;)

cheers fliper - now theres no prob which UAV peeps get - only one brilliant one to get.

Messiah, your model is awesome and the fact that you responded with a nearly completed product so quickly is a testament to the quality of the addon makers involved in this great community.  And Fliper, weve all seen the great work you are capable of doing.  I figure if you two prodigies get together on this we might have one hell of a new addon! :D
