HALO PARACHUTING
« on: 01 Jan 2003, 04:47:48 »
Hmm..ok, this will baffle everyone!..

Can we develop a way of 'jumping' from a C130 (ramp down) into freefall..(ie; Special Forces HALO soldiers).

Then at a given height (3,500 ft) a Sqaure RAM AIR Parachute is deployed in which you steer him into the predetermined Landing Point (DZ).

I would use the mission editor to create the route from the airfield to the Point of Exit and Landing Point (DZ) then the return flight back to the airfeild for the C130. To determine the set altitude of say 15,000 feet would be a problem to establish??

Seems all a big task, and it's proberly not going to be able to be done.

I was working on a HALO script that used some clever animations during freefall.  It sets the man off jumping.  He falls in a straight in position for that added speed, then he spreads out and then releases the chute.  The chute slowing him down gradually instead of the usual stopping him instantly :)

Anyway, here are the scripts and sample mission I was working on.  Somone else should feel free to develop this further.

As for a square canoy, that would have to be made in an addon.
