decrypting .sqms/.pbos
« on: 31 Dec 2002, 06:42:53 »
hey guys i need some help!
I've been trying to decode some of my friends mission .pbos so I can modify them and put in new addon units to spice up the mission a bit. so far I havn't been successful, most newer missions and the BIS mission seem to decrypt perfectly with UnPBO 1.5, a tool which i highly recommend. But on these they just dont seem to work, it won't even crack open the .pbo so i use PBOTool instead, which leaves the mission.sqm in some form of ancient Yiddish :( It has come down to trying every PBO Decompressor known to man, and several known to monkeys, but still nothing will work, I've also used unpack-sqm but it leaves gaping holes in the mission.sqm.
Can i get some help here?

Have you tried x-pack and everything in the Editor's depot then??

 ???

If so... That sucks!  Write the author and ask for an open source version perhaps!   :-\

Use DePBO instead.

Here's a link to it on Wright's OFP page:

http://students.washington.edu/gw2001/DePBO_V1.zip

DePBO will unpack a PBO and decrypt the .sqm file.
