Recon script (continued)
« on: 30 Dec 2002, 20:34:24 »
Hi folks,

I tried to use the recon script that was posted here a while ago, but can't seem to get it to work.

I'm trying to check if my a player has detected certain enemy units. I sneak him up real close, but I still get '0' knowsabout, even if I'm staring the enemy in the navel with by binocs (od scope, or naked eye). In fact, it seems easier for the enemy to see me, than the other way around - even if they are strolling through the open and I am hidden in a bush?

I attached the script (modified from an earlier post here)

Any clues on why this isn't working?

Cheers,

Hmm ... that looks like a script I wrote a while ago. What version of OFP are you running? I am updating one of my missions for v1.91 and have a similar script, and have discovered that the knowsabout values have completely changed - it is now much harder to knowabout the enemy.

In a way this is a throwback to earlier versions (pre 1.30) where I suffered similar problems.

I'm sorry that this isn't really any help, just be assured that you are not suffering alone as a result of BIS's incessant tinkering.

I'm using resistance, with everything but the latest (reportedly buggy?) patch.

Hmmm. Guess we shoudl forward this question to the BIS forum, then? :(
