No Mans Land - Holding high the torch.
« on: 19 Dec 2002, 03:00:47 »
A group of talented modelers, skinners, mappers and sound editors have banded together to create the first mod about the Great War for Ofp. I could tell you how much talent is here, but i'd rather show you.

1914 French Infantry in progress by Grokk

Fokker E. III Beta by Grokk

Draken Observation Balloon

Trenches by Grokk (the yellow dot is a car, to give you a perspective)

the Se5 Biplane by Glare

The British Mk IV tank by Glare

With this mod we intend to immerse a person in the hell of trench warfare with a planned campaign that will span the war from beginning to end. We will take you through the mud of the Somme, the Gas of Ypres and the shell holes of Verdun.

We are still looking for help, specifically Texture artists...If you are interested in joining the mod or want more information please stop by either the website:

or the Forums:

Since i'm the sound editor for the mod, i can give you a bit more info on that. On the sound front we are going all out. I am working with Glare to replace ALL of the sounds in our addons starting with the Se5. This means that not only will the standard engine sound and gun shots be replace but you will also have the sound of wind wipping by your head, you will have diffrent sounds for crashing the plane into water, ground or exploding it midair. The sounds of riccocets will be changed for bullets hitting dirt, buildings, people and armored vehicals. I am going for 100% realism. each vehical will have a unique sound when it explodes or bumps into something, and you will be able to hear the wires snap on the planes wings as you crash or bits of metal fly into the air if your tank is hit...in a word, hardcore.

It is good that someone is trying to do this project, despite contraversial engine issues. I'm quite happy to help out with a bit of voice acting, if you wan't. I can do turn of the centuary British accents easily. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

One simple suggestion:

Make your own map, with trenches built in.

I rather susprct you can't, because of the limitations of wrp edit. You can only edit land in 50m blocks.

I don't know if this has already been brought to your attention or not but I just came across this WWI plane from BIS:
CAMEL WWI PLANE
