Who is "player" on a ded server?
« on: 28 Dec 2002, 12:47:25 »
I assume none and that the "player" can't be used on server side script but wanted to ask, anybody knows for sure?

In a script run locally by the server, "player" will only function if a player is hosting.  Won't do anything on a dedicated server as far as I know.  The short answer is no, you can't use "player" in a server-side script.

Thanks for clarifying what I suspected T. I have things working with me hosting but want to write all my scripts so they also work on dedicated servers.

to detect a ded server:

?player == player:goto "nondedserver"
#dedserver
;ded-server only stuff here
#nondedserver
