Please help a real Newbie
« on: 02 Dec 2002, 02:43:04 »
Hi guys, I'm doing my first attempt at creating my own mission. I've created a cutscene using the editor and I'm having one problem. I can't figure out how to start and end the intro with the mission editor. The intro runs fine, but it won't move on to the mission itself. Please don't tell me to learn scripting, that's beyond my capabilities. I just would like to know the commands for beginning and ending the intro using the mission editor. Thanks in advance.

If your attempting to test your mission from the editor it will not start after the intro. You have to save it to the single or multiple player missions folder. Once you have it there it will automatically begin after your intro is done.

Also make sure that you are not doing your intro in the mission section. On the right of the screen you see the word mission, select it and change it to intro. Just in case you didn't know.

Hope this helps

Well, you end your mission with making a trigger of End1.

Make a trigger, and in the "edit trigger" screen, there is somewhere a tab which contains End1, End2, End3, End4 .... Switch, And more ... So select End1, activate the trigger as you want, and the intro will end.

Also, I suggest you learn camera scripting, it ain't hard. If you know it, you could make your own special effects! think of it  8)

I agree, camera scripting is as easy as it comes.

Name CamCreate [0,0,0]
Name CameraEffect ["internal","back"]
Name CamSetTarget Target
Name CamSetPos [0,0,0]
Name CamSetRelPos [0,0,0]
Name CamCommit 0

Those are the only commands you'll ever need. The Name part is the name of the camera you create. The center parts are the actual commands, and the parts in bold are the parameters you change to make it work.

It might look intimidating to you know, but if you just surf on over to the Editors Depot and check out the excellent tutorials and scripts there. And don't hesitate to ask. I'm always on call ;D
