Tank floating above the ground

I have a problem with my tank: It's obviously floating above the gound.

I know that all vehicles in OFP are floating a bit but it isn't that obvious than with my model.

  • I have two basic View LODs, one for the Model and one for a basic shape used for the shadow. The first View LOD has about 800 faces and is marked with lodnoshadow=1.
  • The vertices in the LandContact LOD are planar and placed slightly under the model.
  • The Geometry LOD is also convex and weight is applied.
  • In the Memory LOD I set the 4 vertices for the trackmarks.
  • I made a basic config.cpp to test the tank without a gunner and commander but nothing special.

The tank is solid, the shadow is shown, I can drive it, everything is ok but it just keeps floating about 20 cm (in OFP) above the ground.

I tried to adjust the LandContact LOD vertices but when I set them higher only the wheels and the track are set higher in OFP but are still floating for the same amount.
When I set the vertices lower the tank floats even more.
I also tried to move the Geometry LOD higher and lower but no success.

Anyone who got similar problems?

I'm thankfull for every hint.

Try moving the whole model in o2 "down" abit, ie go to ur side view press ctrl a then drag the lot downwards a bit

This was also my first idea because the whole model was above the grid so I moved all the LODs down to the position the demo models from BIS are but unfortunately it didn't help  :-\

I had this problem with a soldier model.
this was caused by .3ds file import...
when you import a 3ds file,itll import into
every LOD,so check to see if theres something
in the other lods other than the model main lods
that shouldnt be there.this can also happen
when you merge two p3d together,
in my case it was a massive great hat in (fire geometry)
zoom right out inthe lods to make sure
somethings not "out of the grid" that doesnt belong there.
also check out to see if theres any "isolated verticies"
that dont belong as well,you might have just one point
messing up the land contact.
also check the centre pin is correct.
