Hey fellas!!! I know what causes the crash. I played through a massive mission that I made and had not a single crash. Grant it was a little slow. Now... I played the same level again, but this time my CAR-15 ran out of ammo. What should I find on the ground but an M-16 without an owner. I fire the gun several times and I miss my enemies... no crashes. But then one of my shots hit a dude in the head. CRASH!!!! Perhaps it isn't the use of the M-16, but a certain sound it is supposed to make when certain conditions are met. I am sure that the M-16 is the culprit. At least in my case. I will do further research to be sure of my conclusion, but the evidence points to our favorite rifle.

Update: I'm full of sh*t. I played a bunch more and thought for sure it was only the M-16, but then, about 2/3 of the way through a major battle, I used the weapon-sight vision mode for the CAR-15, and it crashed.  :'(  :'(  :'(

I believe whiplash has a point about a sound bug.  My computer is constantly crashing when playing with the nam pack.  When it does crash my computer freezes but the sound keeps going whether I have EAX/Hardware excellerated or not.  I have a Creative Audigy and a turtle Beach sound card and they both crash in the same way.  I don't think it's my computer because when playing with the regular units in resistence there's no crashing.  I hope someone can figure it out.

I have had a few crashes fairly recently, and i think I have to agree it might be a sound problem, with the small arms or chopper weapons. Because each and every time it froze or crashed to desk top, it was when there was a big firefight going on or many helo's engaging different targets. Sometimes it seems the sound cant keep up with the action.

I just had the same problem last night. I was playing the new mission around  Plei Bi Yot. Had a very hard lock-up. hehe, now I can't even start the machine except in safe-mode, lol. That's a new one.

Well now I'm worried :)  If I can ever get the machine running, I'll try it again.

One thing though... before starting the game I cranked up the lod settings in the preferences, and moved the geometry settings pretty high. Then in-game I maxed out the framerate setting and the detail setting. I left the land to normal and the viewdistance to 700. Just to see what would happen. Not sure if that overloaded my machine or not, but over the last week or so I had been playing Dinger's mission and DevilsGuard's missions with no problems at all.

Still stumped.

If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

ebud, I haven't been able to finish Dingers mission at all. Just as I start making my way up the hill in the exact same spot I get the hard freeze.  I don't think it's my computer cause i'm getting good frame rates and I don't have my settings to hi.  Maybe we can get the settings from people who have not had any problems and start elimating possibilities, just a thought.

I ain't gettin' no lock-ups (never thought I'd be glad of my shite on-board soundcard).  :D

STT... any chance of an Air Cav Bugler? I've got some great bugler sound files...

Bug Report :

One of the seats (behind the co-pilots right shoulder) does not appear to work in both of the gunships.

Appologies if this has already been reported (I am TRYING to keep up with these threads...)

Cheers, again, for this excellent addon.

Ebud I think your PC problem has nothing to do with Plei Mi Yot mission I think something else has caused you PC to work in only safe mode m8 cause I have no problems now and I hope you get your PC to work correctly m8 :-\

I have been playing this alot lately, and am experiencing random crashes every now and then too.  The system just seems to lock up and all I can hear is sound in the background.  At first I thought it was my machine....

System:

Windows XP Pro (SP1)
AMD XP 2100
1024MB's Corsair XMS 2700 DDR RAM
Geforce 4 Ti4400
SB Audigy

Yeah, I didn't figure it was something causing it not to start, and that hard crash triggered something else. But since I always brag about never crashing, I thought I'd post when I did and what it was doing. I have had crashes before during testing, but never anything like this.

Anyway, the point being that I thought it may have been something with either the marines or the DSHK, since I've yet to really ever use them in conjunction.

No crashes for me......can't really remember my system specs but still.

What i was wondering was about lights.  On the LSSC for example, would it be possible to have the light on the M60 so when you moved around the light shined with you, be more realistic me thinks. Is it possible?

- ebud & BoNeCoLLeCToR

I used to have these crashes alot too, but after a total format on harddrive and reinnstall of the game, only SEB Nampack 2 as an addon, I get zero crashes...    ???

Not sure what was the cause, but I have no faith in a sound bug, nor something wrong with the addons. I belive this is related to memory.

For Plei Bi Yot and all other Flashpoint related stuff I use these settings.

Quote
Flashpoint Preferences:
CPU: Intel Pentium Pro SSE 2398.6 Mhz
RAM: 512 MB (DDR@133Mhz)

CPU Benchmark result: 5050

Display device: Direct3D HW T&L
Videocard: Radeon 9700 pro
Resolution: 1280x1024x32

Advanced:

Performance:
Total memory: 512 MB
Texture Heap: 16 MB
File Heap: 16 MB
Geometry Performance: 4966

Effects:
Max.Lights: 32
Additional Lights:
All three boxes checked

Textures:
Cockpits: 2048x2048
Objects: 2048x2048
Landscape: 2048x2048
Special Effects: 64x64
Auto drop-down: 4x (not sure what this does)

Details:
Max. objects: 256
Objects LOD: 0.0019
Shadows LOD: 0.050

And Ingame I have it set to high, also cranked detail up to max and FPS.

Viewdistance is set to 900.

Only thing disabled is W-Buffer (no use since I go with 32)

Oh, And I also use 2xSmoothVision and 8xAnisotropisk Filtering.

Allow me to say, SEB Nampack looks nothing sort of stunning on this baby...   :)

I am sorry for the crashes on your computers, but belive me, this has nothing to do with the mission Plei Bi Yot...    ???

???

Hmm, I used three squads of Marines and a couple of DShk's on Plei Bi Yot, never crashed for me...

Best regards
