Iron Sights

Does anyone know of a good tutorial on editing the sights of custome made weapons or can write here a brief explanation? I've tried the search feature but for some reason I get no results. I am guessing that the zoom is controlled by the config file with a predefined texture placed in front. Any info would be appreciated.
