Swarm
« on: 24 Nov 2002, 09:22:41 »
JUst messing around with an idea regarding swarms: flies locusts etc. I've tried using the seagull script and a new 'fly' addon object. The problem is even using the seagull as a parent class the 'fly doesn't move around like the seagull. I guess it is because the 'fly doesn't have the same flying capabilities as the seagull (ie moving parts), therefore cannot use the seagull simulation.
The alternative to making the 'fly' er fly would be to create a random flight path for the 'fly'  object, then duplicate that for other flies. Any ideas? I have a dead guy who is quite alone without the customary er ah 'flies'

Sorry Klink have no answers on your script, just a wrap and elaboration on your flys and birds. That is a cool idea with the flys buzzing around a dead body. I was talking birds with a fellow ofp beserka and he said that birds in bushs and trees that would fly away when you get to close. The birds then could make the enemy check out that position. This could add a new element to stealth missions by giving up your position to the enemy. I'm not suggesting turn the greatest war sim ever into a zoo but a few different beasts of the wild that would react with you differently (even kill you) could add something. I can't do this, just thought it was worth a mention.

"BlackOp killed in the woods during a deep cover stealth mission by a gang of squirrels!
Military Police is still investigating if the squirrels were cooperating with the enemy...
they are under interrogation of a CIA agent right now."

woah, all the new cool mission concept possibility's that are coming up with this!!! lol  :P ;D

Obviously you can't read I did mention no zoo. I'm not suggesting turn the greatest war sim ever into a zoo but a few different beasts of the wild that would react with you differently (even kill you) could add something. Snakes are a very common facit to war. But no Lamas.

there has been much talk in other forums around here about wildlife and custom animation for them. The most common being Dogs (in and around cities and farms), Cows and other farm animals (near farms...duh), Snakes and insects (near swampy or wetland type areas or near water), and other various common things like squirrels in forests... I think BIS had great ideas to put those sound files of animals in the sound file that came with the game...but i think we need to follow up on it and make the animals themselves.

Plus wouldnt it be fun to go cowtipping...with RPG's?

Hi,

isn't it nice to have a friendly OFPEC member hanging around. I just open my bottomless chest of nice scripts and present to you the Mosquito script.

It creates some flies in front of the player. Together with the right sound...

Please mention my name in the Readme of the mission. If you need some other flies please feel free to contact me.

BTW i also found a nice bird script lying around.

With best Regards
Kuro
