Hi guys
« on: 02 Dec 2009, 09:27:06 »
Hi peeps.

I'm Jason.

Just wanted to say hi.

I dug Operation Flashpoint (Cold War Crisis) out a couple of weeks ago. I had no idea that there were so many mods and add ons for it! :)

Thing is. How do I go about using the add ons, units, etc?
I know this sounds like a bit of a dumb ass question, but, as I'm just starting I need help!!!!  :(

Thanks in advance!

J

Welcome to the forum, Skyclad  :welcome: !

About your question:

Not all addons might work with OFP: CWC. Most of the addons are now made for OFP V1.96, so if you have lower version (1.46 for an example), some addons might not work.
Here on OFPEC you can find some high-quality addons, but I suggest you go to
http://ofp.gamepark.cz/
You will find a lot of mods & addons there.
When you download addon, copy-paste it (or extract it) to
C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\Addons.
Then start OFP, choose Mission Editor choose whichever island you like, double-click and a window should pop-up. Choose one of drop-down menus, and look for new category (exmpl. JAM Infantry), then select unit you want and press OK. Note that some addons may place themselves in some of original categories (like Armored or Men).

Hope that helps!
If you see a light at the end of the tunnel, then it's probably an enemy tank.

  Another thing to do is look up the Mod folder creation tutorial.

  That way you can maintain a clean copy of the original game and seperate your mods into appropriate categories, such as loading only WWII mods, only Vietnam ones etc.

:) eegore beat me too it.
Highly recommend you use addon folders (called Mod folders), otherwise thing may get very messy, and you may even have to resort to reinstalling OFP.

A great Launcher to help use those addon folders is found here;
Kegetys' Launcher

A nice tutorial on how to setup addon folders is found here;
ModFolders by Hawkins

Good luck :)
