Nogova airports & taking off/landing...
« on: 05 Nov 2002, 20:08:38 »

Im making a coop where i need a plane to take off
from the Nogova airport located on the island in the "north east" of the map.

For normal if you want a plane to take off you simply place the plane near the runway and set a waypoint in the air, then the plane does take off from itself (hawent understood the "taxi thing" fully yet), but on the airfield im talking about this does not work! the plane simply rolls around on the earth, even if i place a million (lol) waypoints, the plane just keeps rolling and rolling on the ground (yeah Limp Bizkit rules lol)...

Anyone can help me out with this?
the plane i want to make start is the russian SU jet.

One more thing..
If someone would make a litle example mission where it shows how to make correctly take off and land an aircraft, this would be very nice.. because i still dont know how to doo that (and i edit since OFP is out lol!).

Thx for reading ^____^

I asked a similar question a few days ago (link).  Apparently because of the game engine, there can only be one operational airport per island (map).  So the one in the Nogova map is on the western side of the map in the desert area.  Also a limitation of the engine is that planes can only take off and land travelling from south to north.  Thus, even if that runway worked on the little island, the engine wouldn't allow planes to take off from west to east.
Hope that helps and I hope the link works (first time I have tried one in this forum)

Well its kinda cheating, But set your empty aircraft at whatever end of the runway you need it to take off from
set your AI to moveinto plane, now in the waypoint GETIN
set all 3 of yer timers for say 1  in the ONActivation field
use your setVelocity command to  well I guess you'd call it a slingshot take off

give your plane a name first though

 PlaneName setVlocity [0,100,10]
it may be -100 been a couple days since I did it basically it catapults your plane down the runway and almost looks like a takeoff.

Landing though well just cant be done unless you're flying the plane
