Original OFP campaigns .sqm files
« on: 27 Mar 2009, 10:29:31 »
I'm just curious: has anyone ever found a way to make the BIS campaigns .sqm files readable by the mission editor? Cause many years ago I tried to unpbo the campaign files and open the missions with the editor but nothing was displayed on the map.

You need to un-Pbo the 1985 campaign, I use PBODecryptor for thsi task. Then you mvoe the mission directories into your users/username/missions directory and then you are able to open them in the Ofp mission editor.

Is PBO decriptor a particular dePBO program? Because I had uncompressed them with a PBO editor and done the same thing you told me to do, but the editor coulrdn' properly read the .sqm files (it threw no errors but the map was empty).

Hi, please visit this website;

decompressor

It's the first red link in the list. called "UnPBO v1.5"..click it and download.

Your an experienced editor right from what I've seen in the past?

It's easy , just install/open the program after download. Then after the program is opened goto the OFP directory click on campaigns and then click on the campaign you want to decompress.

Then in that same folder which was campaigns, go in there and you'll find the decrompressed folder which has all the UnPBO'd missions for SQM files in there that you can just copy and paste into your usermission directory for the editor.

It's pretty simple.  :D..

if you need any help just let me know.. :)

Why go to obscure sites and get even more obscure programs?

Everything you need can be found in the Editors Depot.

Look for Eliteness by Mikero, which will depbo a pbo and even pack it back into a pbo as well.
After depbo it will read the files extracted, even the mission.sqm.

This program works for OFP or Arma PBO's, one program fits all.

I have elitness and I can uncompress a pbo file properly. The problem is that when i tried to open the .sqm file in the editor, the map looked empty, like there was no mission at all. Now I tried this this something like 5 years ago and never tried again, I should try now.

EDIT: I tried with elitness and it doesn't work. I've discovered that the campaign .sqm files are encrypted because if you open them with a text editor like notepad++ it can't read them properly (while custom made .sqm files are readable by text editors).

In Eliteness: Navigate to the decompressed folder and highlight the mission.sqm file.

From the toolbar, choose Tools -> Derapify

The main window should now display the mission.sqm in its usual, understandable format. Then you can select File -> Save As...

For more info, see the BI Wiki: raP file format.
