Overview Question

Hi , I'm working on placing a jpeg image in my breifing.

Here is my overview;

Can someone tell me why my image isnt' showing up in the overview, the demension are correct from the image..

Syntax seems correct. IS the image 256x256 or 512x512 or 512x256?

Ah no, I got to re-do that, thanks.. I'll check.

Also when I change the demension.

I tried this, 194 x 83 because 256 x 256 was too large well it didn't show up, no errors either.

Say I'm at 194 83;

Then the error says something abou demensions 194 x 83 2^n

or something like that, what does "2^n" mean?

this means the actual dimensions of the image must something like 256x256. You can resize it using the image controls in the html.

x^y is used to express exponentiation ("two to the power of n"). 2^3 would be written as 2³ on paper. Since we don't have many of these small superscript digits on our keyboards it's ususally written as x^y.

2^n where n is a the factor. So...

2^1 = 2
2^2 = 4
2^3 = 8
2^4 = 16
2^5 = 32
2^6 = 64
2^7 = 128
2^8 = 256

etc, just to make more sense. So if dimensions are 2^n, then they are '2^n * 2^n', you have a bad ratio, and just need to resize the image.  :yes:

I don't understand NJ, I told you in my PM a couple of days ago to resize your picture from 109 X 47 to 128 X 64 and that should fix the problem.

Don't you have a graphics program with which to do this?

I don't actually have graphics program, I have paint, lol...but that's it.

I'm trying to get the right size for the overview for the image but it seems that each size isnt' working, whenever I type in a different demension sometimes it doesn't show an errror but the overview doesn't have a picture but then at other times it does have the error.

See with the tools i use I think it confuses you guys because it goes by like height or width or pixels so I think the demensions are actually different then what your trying to tell me. So say like if you were to use paint, how would you adjust the demensions in order for it to work.

I actually use ms paint right now since I don't have my others installed yet.
heres how...
when you take a photo with fraps>>open it with paint, select the cut tool and highlight then copy the actual image from the cinema borders without closing anything and then click new at the top. Paste it into the new window and now you have just the image.

Click the image tab at the top and then the resize/skew option.

In the resize area where it reads horizontal and vertical, it should say 100% for both. reduce those numbers to say 50% if you want to reduce the images to half its current size. DO NOT SAVE YET!

After reducing it, click image again but this time click Attributes and see what the actual size of your image is now. If its not what you want, just click cancel, then EDIT>>Undo to put it back to its original form before you resized it and then try again. you'll have to play with it until you get it pretty close to your desired attributes. Then if its only a few off, you can manually type your needed attributes into the attributes window and it resizes the image to those numbers. (256X256 or whatever)
With that done, you can add a border by selecting the Line tool just below the spraytool, and using the color pallet to choose your border color, insert a line at your desired thickness along all four edges.
Save and done.

You can also download MS power toys, which add a "resize image" option in your right-click menu when selecting a picture.
