Adding custom sounds and music???
« on: 24 Aug 2008, 15:32:31 »
OK guys I know this might be a tall order but Ill ask anyway... I really need to know how to add my own music and sounds, voices etc but dont know how do it??? I know about the description .ext bit ive read up on that in mr murrays ed guide,  but how do i change my files into ogg files? I tried going here "http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/dBpowerAMP-codec-ogg.exe." as suggested in the guide file on here but couldnt download it... Im a real amateur at thiss tuff so try to keep it as simple as poss..... Is there a site/library where you can just download ogg files directly so i dont have to convert them?

I suggest downloading a program like Audacity that lets you edit and convert your files to .ogg. :) There's a couple of others out there too, but I'm sure everyone can suggest their favourite program here. Audacity is easy to use and free, so it's my chosen program.

Open the music/track up in Audacity.
Right at the very beginning ( 0 on the scale) place your mouse over it and a hand icon wil appear.
Now drag the hand up to say 30-40 seconds mark-depending how long of the song you want
Now that section should turn blue-ish/grey.
Go to 'edit' at the top and click trim.
Should now show just the trimmed part of the song!

If required:-

Go to '0' on the scale again and drag almost to the end so you have a few seconds left.(last few seconds should now be blue/grey!)
Click 'effects' at the top and 'fade out'

So the song should play and gradually fade out.

Hope that makes sense!  :D
