Copying design elements from Intro to Mission
« on: 02 Jul 2008, 09:35:58 »
Hey all,

Here's a stupid question, but I can't figure it out:

When designing a mission...I created my markers, fortifications etc on the map in the editor's Intro mode, and naturally lose everything when I go to Mission mode in order to design the mission itself. I'd like to have consistency between the intro cutscene and the mission...and the missions that follow.

Is there any way this can be achieved without having to redo everything in Mission mode? Am I making sense? There must be a way...

Thanks everyone.

Cheers,
MH

hi , you can hold your right sorry left mouse button down and drag it over all your units, objects and markers, they will become highlited then hold the mouse pointer over one of the units, press ctrl + C then go to mission mode and press ctrl + v. its will copy and paste then you have to drag the mouse over again and hold the mouse down well everythings is highlited and move it all into place ,,,,, thats how i do it ,,,, there might be a better way  ;)

Hurt,
The solution is not to use the Intro button at all, but to script your cutscene inside the mission itself. Check out any MP mission with an intro cutscene to see how it is done. Some are done using scripts that are called at mission start, others are driven by triggers' effects and/or game logics with waypoints' effects.

yes Pnut,  :good:  but if he has spent time like i did once on an intro then wanted to use part of it in the mission the copy-paste works. 'any ways the mission should all ways be made first.'

Does that not all depend on whether he wants the cut scene before or after the the briefing screen?  If before do it in the Intro, if after do it in the mission.  Either can be good.

i did both in Eviction sp ofp. and cutsence ending before debriefing. i do alot of copy/ pasteing from other test missions i have. i guess everone has their own style. but if you set up a base in the mission and need to move it for the Intro  :dunno:  that ol' copy/ pasteing works great, just aligning it sometimes is a pain if things are in a tight spot. so mostly this is a live and learn for adam. i know i learn something new about the games everytime i hit that exe

Thanks everyone for the tips.  :D

I ended up cutting and pasting it, and it seems to have worked out okay. Just need to do a little more fine tuning.

I wanted the cutscene before the briefing, so I left it in Intro.

There's still much to be learned...

There's so much you can do...I only regret, after 7 plus years of owning the game, starting recently.

Thanks again,  :good:
