Author Topic: Figured out making an extremely tight/close patrol  (Read 1308 times)

I know how to make a patrol with way points and cycles and the like.

My problem is that when I have 2 units that are moving to a waypoint in a line formation they simply don't walk in a line.
It's still part of a wedge or V or echelon. This happens because one unit won't keep up with the other. I want them to walk together as opposed to having a delayed kind of effect. I made both units start on the same line and the waypoint is straight and there are no obstructions (even though it is close to a building and vehicle the path is definately clear).


I've tried using a follow unit script as opposed to having both units assigned the way point with having a distance of only 1 but that didn't seem to work.

If someone could give me some help or point me i nthe right direction I'd appreciate it.

Well, that's OFPs pathfinding for you. Bloody excellent is it not?

The good news is, they didn't fix it in ArmA! :clap:

Anyway, it might be me being a bit of a can of jam - but just before I go giving suggestions - the units were grouped, right?

lol Oh well. I never thought about that, I thought it was an error I made.

Yes I did put them in Groups.

Oh, in that case they fecked up as long as they are in safe/careless mode as they will automatically form up in a column. But if you have them in aware/combat/stealth I'd try to just make their speed limited and that should do the trick.

Update: Didn't work but nice suggestion.

I also managed to figure out that it works alot better to not have them as a group and for them to use seperate way points which are practically on top of one another.

To keep them tight and up with each other I think I'll use a close combination of min, med and max timeouts as well as additional guards at way point positions. That way, it'll give a friendly appearance.
