In the player's init or the on activation of a trigger: [this] exec "mine.sqs";

mine.sqs
Code: [Select]
_pos = _this select 0;
mine = "Mine" createVehicle getPos _pos;
mine setDammage 1;

Untested but should work and don't know if this produces a big explosion.

IIRC mines in OFP don't actually blow up when you setdammage them or use some other meathod other than putting a tank on it? You have to artificially make them explode using the method Mandoble posted.

Filth, if you are using the CoC Mines addon (standard addon on LOL OFP server), the mines do explode when _myMine setDamage 1.  Replace the standard OFP mine with an appropriate  CoC. You will not want to use the camCreate method because you are undoubtedly making an MP mission. Make sure your trigger condition also includes the following:
Code: [Select]
this && "LAND" countType thisList > 0 otherwise your mine will explode when an aircraft flies over it.

If you must use a standard OFP mine for MP mission, get off yer lazy butt and search our forums. The truth is out there.

everybody, thank you for your help on this. my question has been answered.

as usual, this is the right place to go for help on mission editing. but something perturbs me.

mr. peanut. i appreciate the trouble you have gone to to find me the link to the answer using non coc mines. and the effort that it must take to administer these forums. but did you have to take that tone? i always search the forums before i post a question. in this case, the correct thread has slipped past me and i decided to post the question rather than continue to search.

is that so lazy? i thought the purpose of these forums was the sharing of knowledge amongst other people devoted and enthusiastic about the game in question. this used to be a friendly place, where people would fall over backwards to help you, and they still do... but so far this week, i've been criticised by administrators for double posting (for the first time in my life) and not using the modify button (which i truthfully didn't know about), putting too many line spaces in my posts, and now i'm, being accused of being lazy.

i don't know what to say really. i'm really surprised. is the tone meant to be stroppy, am i misreading the postings? the last thing i want to do on ofpec is waste peoples time. i'm just a keen mission maker who needs a little help once in a while. :(

aye, let's all calm down. i think peanut's remark was more in response to the individuals who don't bother to search - they are out there, believe me - and who assume that part of the OFPEC staff's job is to go and look for them. that is evidently not the case in this instance, so apologies if that's what has come across.

sometimes we need to nudge folks towards the means of finding the information on the site for themselves, i.e. searching the forum or the ed depot, or reading the faq. in addition to that are the posting guidelines we've found help to keep the place clean, content-orientated and to the point. it's part and parcel of running a tight ship.

aside from all that, rest assured that our aim is still the same as it has always been - to provide information in a friendly and helpful way to members of all levels of expertise.

that said, let's get back on topic.  :good:

thanks planck.  >:( what a terrible way to handle it.  - do you think it helps the situation by throwing another accusation my way. ridiculous. if peanut was being light hearted, that's what the smilies are for, to add the correct tone. from knowing peanut as i do from the lol server, i was rather hoping that it wasn't meant with any malice, and just wanted confirmation of that. i don't want to feel wary of posting questions on this forum. that was all.

bedges, thank you for your mature help once again. and thank you for your recognition of the way i use this site. - i'm back on topic already.  :cool2:

filth,
The tone was supposed to be taken jokingly, especially since we know each other from LOL. Surely you know me well enough from there to know not to take me too seriously? C'mon Sleaze Peddler, give me a big wet sloppy one.   :-* Or a great big spanking  :shhh:

As for the thread police, I too have been ticketed in the past and felt it was excessive. However, the goal of having such strict guidelines is to keep the site as clean as possible and make it easy for people to find the information they want without having to wade through too much filler.

Please do not be discouraged from posting any type of question here. No question is too small.
