Grab the "PBO_Decryptor_v1.5" somewhere ( :P ::) ;D ), then locate the
following stuff in the OFP game folder :

Ya need to find a PBO file called "DATA 3D"

If you have the RES upgrade, grab it through this path :

  OFP / Res / Dta / "Data3D.pbo" <---THAT's THE ONE  8)

( back it up :  de-pbo a copy, not the real stuff, no need )  :o

Then use the pbo_decryptor to ...well... decrypt it so that it will
turn into a new folder named DATA3D.

Inside you'll find all the p3d files, and among them, say, an "m113".

Then use the "Texture P3D swapper" or some other tool to open up the
decrypted p3d file where you can see all the tex_names!

( I believe the tex_swapper has a readme included ).

You also need a few other tools, like the BIS tool "TEX VIEW" which is needed for
making ofp images (pac and paa) into editable tga image files  :P ;D

Then ya need "PAINTSHOP" to re-tex the textures and save as tga files.
make, swap & save, use texView again back to pac/paa, and THEN you're
ready to swap the orig p3d files (using the p3d swapper tool) with
your newly made custom textures...

( did I get it all done up there ?!  ??? :P ;D ) hmmm.
maybe some nice & friendly chap will support us here and finish up
this lil' TUT.

ONE thing I know I missed is the textures (the orig ones) ; they're located in the DATA folder.
same procedure as with the data3D folder, I'm afraid  :-\ ;D

uhm, *cough* and then the CONFIG's  :wow:  :noo:  ;D

uuuuhm, that's a whole other story... you're prolly best off by simply unpack an older addon
and use the config as your base!  :-\ :)
Otherwise, this would turn outta hand for lil' ol' me  :P ( I'm tired, sorry m8 )

Oh  :o  the final step is to re-pbo the crap, both the textures & the p3d & the config.

This is done with a PBO_tool  :)

Anyone else feel like being warmhearted tonite?  ;D ( j/k lazzy - g'luck  :-* )

Here's a few notes I didn't see in any of the tutorials on texturing:

1) TexView will only read uncompressed .tga files, make sure to adjust the settings on your graphics program if you plan on using "save as" or create any textures from scratch.

2) TexView is a pain in the ... when you have to convert a lot of textures from tga to paa/pac (a batch converter would be really nice *hint* *hint*) :)  Be careful when saving .pac files, TexView will screw up the extension unless you save over an existing .pac file (.paa files work fine).

And, here's my personal "trick" to avoid worring about en/decrypted status of the .p3d file or crashes with the texture swapper...

1) Grab a free hex-editor off the web if you don't have one and use it to open the .p3d file.

2) Search & replace (not case sensitive) all occurances of data\ (<- backslash) with yourpboname\ don't worry about the number of characters in "yourpboname" I haven't had a problem yet.

I also use this to find all of the textures I need, which I grab from data/pbo directly (no uncompressing) with OFP Manager.  The Hex-editor is a small program and has no problem running the same time as OFP Manager and if you're lazy like me you can just resize the windows so they fit next to each other and work your way down the list.  Quick note on OFP Manager: it will say the .pac files appear compressed, DO NOT decompress them.

Oh, and have fun, hope you speak Czech  ;D I know I don't and this would probably be a lot easier if I did...

In addition to the "tga" issue, coroner, it might be well placed to add a tiny
hint re. JPEG files ( or  ".jpg" image files ), as these are accepted by OFP.

Thus: no need to convert from jpg to tga/paa/pac once they're made.  :)

Oh, and desert boy...  :o    you're welcome!  :) ( ::) )

(nah, j/k - its allright man)
